OXFORD, Miss. — Nearly three years after a University of Mississippi student was killed in a downtown Oxford hit-and-run, the man behind the wheel has been sentenced to prison.
On Monday, Seth Rokitka, of Collierville, pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. This morning, a judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of probation. His sentence is set to begin next Friday.
The charges stem from an October 2022 crash that claimed the life of 21-year-old Walker Fielder, a finance student from Madison, Mississippi. Fielder and a friend, Blanche Williamson of Raleigh, North Carolina, were struck around 1 a.m. near Oxford City Hall while celebrating Fielder’s birthday.
