BYRAM, Miss. (WJTV) – The City of Byram is doing what it can to expose people to the many avenues of the performing arts.
The Academy of Music, Performing Arts, Entertainment and Drama (AMPED) is located in the New Beginning Church. The academy is open to students of all ages where they will learn skills and technical training from industry professionals.

Founder Donavon Thigpen, a Mississippi native, said the project has been years in the making.
“I’m very honored to be able to bring this to the City of Byram. Oh, we don’t just offer music. So, it’s the Academy of Music, Performing Arts, Entertainment and Drama. We’ll do productions every semester. We’re also going to offer acting and dancing,” Thigpen said.
