New engineers, custodian raises, part of Jackson’s Public Works budget request

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Money Jackson spent on hiring an outside consultant to supplement the city’s Public Works Department last year will go toward hiring several engineers in-house.

That’s according to Interim Chief Administrative Officer Pieter Teeuwissen, who helped present the department’s budget request to the City Council last week.

“What we have proposed in this budget is $531,360, specifically for in-house engineering,” he said. “In other words, we intend to go hire a couple of engineers in-house.”…
