MDOT makes strides in construction of Pearl to Flowood highway

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Officials with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) said significant headway is being made for the construction of a four-lane highway between U.S. 80 in Pearl and State Route 468 in Flowood. The work includes grading, drainage and bridge work, and earthwork operations are complete.

Other completed work includes all excess excavation, mainline borrow, and subbase material hauling. Crews have also finished storm drainpipe and drainage structures, soil treatment, and curb and gutter work.

Progress made on I-55 bridge preservation project in Jackson

According to MDOT, crews are currently working on the last intermediate lift of asphalt, ITS installation, fencing, Right of Way markers and erosion control. Once complete, State Route 477 (West Rankin Parkway) will connect the cities of Pearl and Flowood.

The original completion date was spring 2027, but MDOT officials said the project is currently ahead of schedule.
