Volunteers sought for first National Folk Fest in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson leaders and the National Council for the Traditional Arts are encouraging community members to step up and get involved in the National Folk Festival.

The free festival will debut in downtown Jackson from November 7-9, 2025. It will feature nonstop music performances across multiple stages, parades, demonstrations, food, a crafts marketplace and family-friendly activities.

Efforts to recruit more than 800 volunteers are ongoing, as well as the opportunity to become a “Friend of the Festival” through the Yard Sign Campaign.

“The countdown is on and this is Jackson’s moment to shine. Bringing the National Folk Festival to our city celebrates the powerful role our people and traditions play in the story of America,” said Jackson Mayor John Horhn. “The time is now for every resident to step up by donating to become a ‘Friend of the Festival,’ attending, and volunteering so that we can make this festival a landmark event that honors our legacy of musical, cultural, and artistic excellence.”…
