A Jackson man was taken into custody Monday afternoon after police say he was found with a rifle inside a store in Newton.
Newton Police Chief McKenzie Patrick said officers responded around 4:10 p.m. after Newton County E-911 received a call about an individual carrying a rifle. Police and deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Department entered the store and began clearing the building.
The individual, identified as Jamie Terrell Moore Jr. of Jackson, was located near the sporting goods section and taken into custody without incident, authorities said…
