‘Barreling toward insolvency’: Court filing provides more details on JXN Water’s financial straits

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – JXN Water is currently operating at a $3 million monthly deficit and losing $27,000 in additional revenue each day that a rate increase proposed back in April is not put in place.

That’s according to an updated financial report filed by the utility in U.S. District Court on Monday.

“The City Council would not approve the rate increase… The current administration has also opposed the rate increase, along with the court. The ITPM continues to be thwarted in his ability to comply with the stipulated order,” Interim Third-Party Manager Ted Henifin wrote…
