According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation, the bridge repair project took half the time allowed and restored the roadway to traffic, with 15,000 drivers using the route daily.

“We are thrilled to announce that crews have wrapped up the bridge repair on U.S. 80 over two months ahead of schedule and are set to reopen it today. Reopening this vital route will relieve traffic on other roads in the area and ensure a smoother flow of traffic throughout the Jackson-metro. I appreciate the public for giving us the time and space to complete each of these critical bridge repair projects. U.S. 80 is now a safer corridor in Hinds and Rankin County.”
