‘No reason to try to save it’: Locals call for former Virginia College building to be torn down

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Years after it was closed, locals are calling for the former Virginia College on Ridgewood Road to be torn down.

The building has been vacant for nearly seven years, after Virginia College abruptly shut its doors in December 2018.

Since then, the building, a former Brookshire’s grocery store, has been taken over by the homeless, as evidenced by the broken windows, shopping carts, furniture and other debris inside and outside the facility.

Meanwhile, confusion remains as to who owns the building…
