JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Gloster community asked the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) to reject an air pollution increase limit to a biomass company.
The residents traveled to Jackson to attend Tuesday’s meeting at MDEQ. Protestors claimed that Drax Biomass Inc. Amite Bioenergy is the root cause of many of the health issues for people living in Gloster due to air pollution.
Per the company’s website, the Gloster facility is one of the company’s locations around the world that produce sustainable biomass and the sale of renewable electricity to businesses. However, residents said the facility is doing more harm than good, and they’re asking MDEQ to deny more air pollution permits to Drax’s facility in Gloster…
