Jackson Weather: 2–5 Inches of Rain Could Trigger Flooding Sunday

Jackson, MS – Heavy rain this weekend could bring localized flash flooding to parts of western and southern Mississippi, especially west of the Mississippi River and south of I-20, according to the National Weather Service in Jackson.

Forecasters expect 2–3 inches of rainfall in a short period, with isolated totals reaching 4–5 inches in some areas. The heaviest rainfall is projected from Saturday night through Sunday morning, potentially causing ponding on roads and flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

The NWS has placed much of the affected region under a Level 1 (Limited) Flood Risk, noting that any flash flooding will likely be localized but could impact travel and outdoor events…
