Inside the mind of a former extremist

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – George Malvaney attended his first Ku Klux Klan rally in Tupelo, Mississippi.

This one decision made in his youth, a watershed moment for Malvaney, would blaze a path for him, one that would see him form relationships with some of the highest-ranking members of the KKK. The path, though, would come to an abrupt end after an attempt to overthrow the government of a small island in the Caribbean.

Like a number of radicals before him, Malvaney was not raised an extremist. He was the grandson of a prominent architect in Jackson and the son of an engineer. He grew up upper-class and loving the outdoors…
