Mississippi food pantries prepare for SNAP pause impact

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Thousands of Mississippi households could soon feel the impact of the ongoing government shutdown. More than 350,000 Mississippians rely on SNAP benefits each month.

If the federal government shutdown continues, officials with the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) said federally funded SNAP benefits for November 2025 will be unavailable.
