JPS expands weekday Supper Meal Program to help families facing food insecurity

Jackson Public Schools is expanding access to nutritious meals beyond the regular school day with a weekday Supper Meal Program at eight campuses, aiming to support students and families facing food insecurity.

The program begins Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, and will operate Monday–Friday, 4:00–5:30 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Bates Elementary – 3180 McDowell Road Extension
  • Spann Elementary – 1615 Brecon Drive
  • Walton Elementary – 3200 Bailey Avenue
  • Blackburn Middle – 1311 West Pearl Street
  • Kirksey Middle – 5677 Highland Drive
  • Forest Hill High – 2607 Raymond Road
  • Jim Hill High – 2185 Coach Fred Harris Street
  • Lanier Jr./Sr. High – 833 West Maple Street

Sites were selected using participation data from the district’s Summer Meal Program to ensure high-traffic, easily accessible locations.

Each meal is well-balanced to meet children’s nutritional needs and includes meat, bread, a vegetable, fruit, and milk or juice. Meals are free for JPS scholars; adults may purchase a meal for $4.00.

Per program guidelines, students must eat onsite. Adults may take their meals to go after payment, and adults may also take their children’s meals with them if desired.
