JACKSON, Miss. – Thick early-morning fog cloaks roads and low valleys across central Mississippi, with headlights slicing through the mist and damp air clinging to windshields. Calm winds and saturated humidity have dropped visibility below a mile in spots, making early travel tricky before the sun burns through by midmorning. But this calm start won’t last long—stormier changes loom by Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, light patchy fog will lift through late morning before a warm surge pushes highs toward 80°F Friday afternoon. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are expected to form after 9 a.m., especially along I-55 from Brookhaven to Canton.
