New Bike and Pedestrian Projects Coming to Brandon, Flowood, Pearl, and Ridgeland with $7 Million Grant

The Central Mississippi Planning and Development District (CMPDD), through its Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), has approved nearly $7 million in federal Transportation Alternatives grant funding. This funding will support six projects to expand bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in the metro area. The goal is to improve safety and accessibility for residents.

The six projects were selected from 13 applications that requested over $14.5 million. Selection criteria included local financial commitment, project readiness, and the potential to improve connections to schools, transit stops, and community destinations. The total investment, including more than $2.1 million in local matching funds, is over $9 million.
