JSU Holds on to Defeat Bethune-Cookman

JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State volleyball team delivered a statement win over Bethune-Cookman at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center Friday night. After dropping the first set, the Tigers stormed back to defeat the Wildcats 3-1 (26–28, 27–25, 25–18, 25–11).

  • After an intense opening frame that saw 14 ties, Jackson State fell 28–26 in a tightly contested set before regaining control behind a balanced attack led by Hope Briggs and Jayden James.
  • James led all players with 16 kills and four aces
  • James, Briggs and Gilbert combined for nine kills.
  • Dove opened set two with a service ace and later set up Briggs for consecutive kills that sparked a 4–0 start.
