Man sentenced for killing boyfriend of child’s mother in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A man pled guilty in Hinds County court to killing the boyfriend of his child’s mother.

Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens announced that Jocquize Williams, 27, pled guilty to first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm in the shooting death of Anthony Lindsey, 24.

The shooting occurred at the Edgewood Terrace Apartments in Jackson on June 3, 2021.

Jackson police said Lindsey was shot in the face by Williams and pronounced deceased at the scene. Witnesses said Williams fled the scene in a white Dodge Challenger.

At the time of the shooting, Owens said Williams was on parole and under house arrest for a 2017 burglary. He remained on the run for nearly two months before he was captured by law enforcement…
