Cooler Air Arrives Behind Two Strong Storm Systems

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) -It has been unseasonably warm in central Mississippi. Vicksburg even broke a record high yesterday, reaching 83 degrees and surpassing the previous record of 82 degrees set in 1966. Patchy fog may form early this morning, especially south of I-20, so use caution if you are driving. We could approach more record highs today with temperatures once again climbing into the 80s under mostly clear skies. The warm and dry pattern continues for now, but storms are expected to return tomorrow and may impact early Thanksgiving travel.

A line of storms is expected to move in tomorrow morning, bringing our first chance of November storms. While overall instability looks limited, an isolated severe storm cannot be ruled out. The main concerns will be gusty winds and localized flash flooding. Central Mississippi is expected to receive up to 3 inches of rain over the next 7 to 10 days.

The weekend looks fairly pleasant with drier conditions and highs in the 70s, although an isolated storm or two is still possible on Saturday.
