JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – With the winter months approaching and as people try to stay warm, now’s a good time to make sure you and your loved ones know what to do in case of a fire.
Cleotha Sanders, Deputy Fire Chief of the Community Relations & Fire Safety Education Division for the Jackson Fire Department (JFD), said distracted cooking is usually the cause for most house fires.
He said homeowners should be aware of your surroundings and be sure to have smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and an escape plan.
