Hinds County leaders unite for holiday food drive

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Leaders from across Hinds County and local businesses teamed up to help those in need for the holidays with a food drive.

“There are a lot of people that are struggling, with this SNAP benefit and from the federal shutdown, we wanted to come together and try to help make sure that people in our community, you will not go hungry,” said Marcus Wallace, an organizer and former Mayor of Edwards.

Representatives from Edwards, Bolton, Raymond, Utica and Jackson received dozens of pounds of food boxes to provide immediate relief to those in need. Many recipients face food insecurity or live in a food dessert.
