JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A man was arrested in connection to the shooting death of a 19-year-old in Jackson.
Jackson police said Fredrick Wright, 33, was arrested on November 21, 2025. He was charged with murder, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a machine gun conversion device.
Amite County High School football player killed in shooting
The shooting occurred in the 3200 block of Tougaloo Street around 1:30 p.m. on November 17, 2025.
According to police, Lawrence McElroy, Jr., was walking out of his home when a silver Hyundai Sonata, occupied by three Black male suspects, drove by and opened fire. McElroy was shot multiple times and died. The vehicle fled the scene of the shooting.
Wright appeared in court on November 24, 2025. He was denied bond.
