JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police are seeking the public’s help with information regarding the shooting death of Robert Harold Nelson, Jr.

WJTV 12 News talked to Nelson’s mother, Carolyn Catchings, in October 2024. She said she missed her son and wanted closure in the case.

“They need to do the right thing, because how can you take a life when you give them a life? My thing is, there comes a day when you might be here where I am. I’m just asking for help. Come out. You got a voice. You know, use your voice. Your voice represents everything within you. So, come out this hour, and I just need justice for my son. I miss him dearly, but like I said, I got some closure. But I don’t have the closure of that I really need. God is working with me. He’s working with me,” Catchings said.

Anyone with information about the shooting can contact the Jackson Police Department (JPD) at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477). If the information leads to an arrest, you could receive a $2,500 reward through Crime Stoppers.
