JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A 23-year-old man was found guilty in the deaths of his girlfriend and her unborn child.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens announced that a jury found Daniel Jones guilty of two counts of first-degree murder.
Jackson police seek public’s help regarding 2022 homicide
On January 9, 2022, Jackson police responded to the 3800 block of Bishop Avenue. They said Jones had shot his pregnant girlfriend, 20-year-old Briana Carter, multiple times.
Carter, who was eight months pregnant, was transported to a local hospital where she and her unborn child died. According to police, Carter identified Jones as the shooter before she died. Jones was later arrested at the downtown Jackson bus station.
Owens said Jones received two life sentences in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).
