Romanian national sentenced in credit card skimming scheme

A Romanian national faces deportation, fines, and a year in prison after he was sentenced in a credit card skimming case that included victims in Madison.

Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced this week the sentencing in federal court of Romanian national Giovanni Iortoman, 21, on one count of placing skimmer devices on credit card readers at stores.

On Monday, Dec. 8, Judge Kristi H. Johnson of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi sentenced Iortoman to 12 months in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and ordered him to pay a total of $1,911 in restitution to the retailers that were affected, Fitch’s office said…
