Jackson city official says layoffs likely coming next year amid budget shortfalls

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Layoffs are coming for the city of Jackson early next year, as officials work to trim $30 million from the city’s general fund budget.

That’s according to Chief Administrative Officer Pieter Teeuwissen, who made the announcement at Thursday’s Civil Service Commission meeting.
