STEPPING UP TO SERVE: Clinton officer helps Flowood woman when nobody else would

JACKSON — Preschool teacher Angela Brown and Clinton Police Officer Anthony Fox had no way of knowing they would be a part of a Christmas miracle as they went about their lives on Sunday.

Some might say it’s the story of some people who incidentally were in the right place at the right time, but both of them will tell you that it was divinely appointed.

Brown was toward the end of a long weekend of Christmas gatherings, church events, and shopping, and she knew when she got up for church on Sunday that she was feeling a little extra tired. When she left church, she picked up her daughter to take her home to Flowood, and was headed back to Jackson on Highway 80 when she fell asleep at the wheel, ran off the road and plunged into a river below the bridge.

“But I remember being on Flowood Drive and turning onto Highway 80, and I had driven down Highway 80 and I believe I passed that first light. That’s about all that I remember. Because when I woke up, I was going off behind the railing,” she said. “It was horrific. But when I woke up and saw that I was in an accident, the only thing that I could do was call on God. And I just kept crying, ‘Lord, please help. Please help.’”…
