PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) – On Monday, officials with the Pascagoula Police Department announced the arrest of a man believed to be responsible for an armed carjacking in the state’s capital.
Police say around 5 p.m. on Sunday, officers were told that 43-year-old Phares Antonio Pickens, an armed carjacking suspect out of Jackson, was in the area. Police found him at the Exxon gas station on Chicot Street, which spurred a foot chase.
Officials say the chase ended when Pickens was caught by a K-9 unit named Thor.
Pickens was taken to Singing River Hospital to be treated for minor injuries before being booked into the Jackson County Adult Detention Center. He is charged with receiving stolen property through Pascagoula PD and is being held for armed carjacking and aggravated assault charges for Capitol Police…
