The son and daughter-in-law of Carol Ryan, a missing 81-year-old woman, have been arrested after a body was discovered buried in their Jackson, Miss., backyard.
John Ryan, 50, and his wife Samantha Ryan, 48, were booked by the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office in the early hours of Christmas Eve, inmate records show. The two were each arrested on one charge of desecration of a human corpse, according to local outlets WLBT and WJTV.
John and Samantha were first detained by Jackson Police Department for questioning in regard to Carol’s disappearance on Dec. 22, Jackson Interim Chief of Police and Hinds County Sheriff Tyree D. Jones confirmed in a press conference the following day.
On the same night they were brought into custody, police obtained a search warrant for the Jackson home they say the couple once shared with Carol, on the belief that evidence linked to her disappearance could be found there…
