Fireworks spark multiple fires in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson firefighters said fireworks caused multiple fires in the capital city.

The first fire occurred in the 700 block of Valencia Street around 6:00 p.m. on December 31, 2025. According to Division Fire Chief Charles Felton, crews responded to a brush fire and found flames coming from the roof of a structure. They received information that the fire was caused by fireworks.

During the process of extinguishing the fire, Felton said one firefighter was injured by stepping in a hole. The firefighter was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
