JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI – Jackson’s 2025 murder rate has declined for the fourth consecutive year, moving into double digits for the first time in several calendar years according to published reports.

The year 2025 ended with 75 killings – a 32% decrease from 2024 and the first time under 100 since 2019 – with the Jackson Police Department, Capitol Police Department and Hinds County Sheriff’s Office working as lead investigating agencies.
