Man charged in 2025 Jackson mass shooting denied bond

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – One of the suspects charged in the mass shooting that followed the 2025 Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade and Festival will remain in custody.

Marquavius McLeod appeared in court on January 6, 2026, for his preliminary hearing. He was charged with one count of murder and six counts of aggravated assault in connection to the shooting.

Bond denied for man accused of killing Hinds County sergeant

Capitol police said there was a prior underlying conflict between two groups that led to the shooting off of West and Lamar Street on March 22, 2025. The defense attorney said McLeod was acting in self-defense after another group shot first.
