Traffic stop leads to Chambers County deputies seizing 255 bottles of promethazine, codeine

CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas — Deputies with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office uncovered hundreds of bottles of promethazine and codeine during a routine traffic stop on New Year’s Eve.

The sheriff’s office made the announcement on social media. They said that on December 31, deputies pulled over a car on I-10 for speeding.

“During the stop, deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle and discovered 255 bottles, approximately 4,256 ounces, of promethazine/codeine in the trunk,” the sheriff’s office posted…
