JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson Public Schools (JPS) will host the Hinds County Spelling Bee in 2026.
The spelling bee will be held on January 24, 2026, at Northwest Middle School. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m., with the competition beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Mississippi Dept. of Education unveils 2024-25 superintendent’s report
Dozens of students in 2nd through 8th grade from across Hinds County will take the stage to showcase their spelling skills, preparation, and love of learning. Twenty-eight students will represent JPS, all competing for the opportunity to advance to the Mississippi State Spelling Bee this spring. The event continues a long-standing tradition tied to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which began in 1925.
The C Spire Foundation is the 2025–2026 regional sponsor of the Scripps Spelling Bee in Mississippi.
