Carthage man sentenced for Dollar General robbery

MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Carthage man was found guilty of robbing a Dollar General in Madison County.

District Attorney Bubba Bramlett announced Nickolas Wilder, 40, was found guilty of one count of armed robbery and one count of conspiracy after a three-day jury trial in Madison County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to serve 30 years in Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).

On November 29, 2024, Madison County deputies responded to the Dollar General located near Leake County on Highway 49 regarding an armed robbery. When they arrived, Bramlett said deputies discovered that a man had walked into the store armed with a gun demanding money. The store clerk was able to run into an office and lock the door.

Bramlett said surveillance showed the man hopping behind the counter, but he was unable to enter the office area. Surveillance then showed the man running back out of the store and entering the passenger side of a vehicle.

Authorities said they were able to locate the vehicle at Wilder’s home with him sitting inside of it. They said Marco Allen was located inside the home still wearing the clothes he was wearing at the time of the robbery. Deputies determined that Wilder provided the firearm to Allen and drove him to and from the Dollar General. It was also determined the pair had staked out several Dollar Generals that morning before coming back to Madison County where Allen entered the store attempting to rob the clerk…
