Jackson man found guilty of auto theft that led to chase

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A 32-year-old man was found guilty of auto theft following an incident that led to a high-speed chase in Jackson.

Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens announced JaWayne Carter, of Jackson, will be sentenced as an 83 Habitual Offender on January 30, 2026.

On October 10, 2022, Jackson police responded to Advance Installation Maintenance, LLC, in reference to a stolen vehicle. The victim reported the vehicle had been left unattended with keys in the ignition for a brief period. When he returned, the truck was missing and contacted police.
