JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) -A First Alert Weather Day is in effect for Friday as a strong cold front brings rain and potentially severe thunderstorms to the area. Some storms could be severe, especially from Friday afternoon into the overnight hours. Damaging wind gusts are the primary concern, though hail, torrential rain, frequent lightning, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Rainfall totals will average around one inch, with locally higher amounts possible. It will remain windy from Thursday through Saturday, even outside of storms.
Dense fog advisories remain in effect for much of the area until 10 AM Wednesday.
