Driver killed in Bentonia crash involving school bus

BENTONIA, Miss. (WJTV) – A driver was killed after a GMC Canyon collided with a school bus in Bentonia, authorities said.

The crash happened at the intersection of Highway 49 and Highway 433 around 3:15 p.m. on January 8, 2026.

3-year-old injured in accidental shooting in Lawrence County

According to Yazoo County deputies, a dark-colored GMC Canyon was traveling northbound on Highway 49 when it collided with a school bus that was traveling westbound on Highway 433 through the intersection. The GMC Canyon overturned multiple times.

Deputies said there were two students aboard the school bus at the time of the accident. The students and the bus driver were not injured…
