MLK speech on record at Two Mississippi Museums

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – There is a recording of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, speech at the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson.

The record is from his speech at the March of Freedom in Detroit, which was a couple of months before the March on Washington.

“The speech he gave really became a precursor to the speech that he gave just a couple of months later on the March on Washington: ‘I Have a Dream’ speech that he became so famous for that. Leading up to the speech, Motown Records decided that they wanted to record the speech and release it to the public,” said Nan Prince, Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) director of collections…
