Feds need more time to respond to motion to dismiss in Jackson bribery case

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Prosecutors are asking for more time to respond to a recent motion to dismiss charges against one of the alleged co-conspirators in the Jackson Bribery Scheme case.

Last week, Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens filed a motion to dismiss the case against him, saying, among other things, that the FBI lied to a grand jury to get an indictment.

On Tuesday, the United States asked for an additional 30 days to respond to the motion, informing the court that one of the attorneys for the government is currently in trial in the Ted Dibiase trial…
