HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A man was found guilty of killing another man, who was holding a machete, during a drive-by shooting in Hinds County.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens said Marcus Ashburn, 38, was found guilty of second-degree murder and drive-by shooting in the death of Jamin Fitzgibbon, 45.
On May 31, 2021, Owens and Ashburn and his co-defendant, 32-year-old Sonnie Stewart, were with a group near Hickory Drive when Fitzgibbon was seen waving a machete in the crowd. When Fitzgibbon left the area, Ashburn followed him to a nearby house, while Stewart trailed in a rented U-Haul truck.
