JACKSON METRO AREA — Mississippians can expect lingering ice and dangerous travel conditions through Monday as precipitation tapers off Sunday and colder air settles back into the region, according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologist Nicholas Fenner said freezing rain and sleet were winding down Sunday morning, with rain expected to end across eastern Mississippi by early afternoon. While the threat of new precipitation is diminishing, ice already on roads, bridges and trees is expected to persist and refreeze overnight as temperatures drop sharply.
