Mississippi College’s Beth Everett took the music of Mississippi to one of the world’s most prestigious stages this December, guest conducting at Carnegie Hall in New York City before returning home to lead a whirlwind month of performances with MC Singers.
Everett, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Mississippi College, was invited to conduct “Gloria,” a Christmas anthem by longtime friend and renowned church music composer Mary McDonald, during the Dec. 1 “This Is Christmas!” concert. The performance brought together singers from across the country, including about three dozen members of the Mississippi Chorus.
“For a Mississippian to stand on that stage and guide that many voices is an incredible honor,” Everett said. “You’re responsible for shaping the entire performance.”…
