Mayes Street bridge to reopen with temporary restrictions

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The bridge on Mayes Street near West Street in Jackson will officially reopen.

Jackson ordinance addresses homeless drop-offs

According to Hinds County Supervisor Tony Smith, District 2, the bridge will reopen on February 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with the following temporary safety restrictions:

  • Open to regular passenger vehicles only
  • Height restriction: 8 feet
  • No buses allowed
  • No trucks allowed
  • No commercial vehicles allowed

These restrictions will remain in place until further notice from the City of Jackson.

Residents and drivers are urged to observe all posted signage and restrictions when using the bridge.
