Mississippi school district appeals ruling to reinstate educator fired for reading children’s book

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – When a former Hinds County educator found himself out of a job for reading a children’s book, it seemed that things were looking up when the Mississippi Court of Appeals appeared to side with Toby Price. However, the battle in court is expected to drag out longer.

The Hinds County School District is appealing a Mississippi Court of Appeals ruling to reinstate Price, who was fired for reading a children’s book called “I Need a New Butt!”

“I wasn’t expecting it, no. It was something that we had in the back of our mind that could happen. Like I said, they’re well within their rights,” Price said…
