JACKSON, Miss. (WVUE) – Both the Mississippi House and Senate are pushing bills forward that will allow gaming operators to intercept jackpots from people who owe child support.
When someone wins big at a casino, anything over $2,000 on slots or through sports betting, the casino would check a state database first rather than hand over the cash immediately. The database is controlled by the Department of Human Services.
If the casino employee sees the winner’s name in the database, the state takes what’s owed before the winner receives payment…
