JTRAN union says contract talks are progressing

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Workers with ATU Local 1208 Union say they are making progress in contract negotiations with MV Transportation, the company that oversees Jackson’s JTRAN bus system.

Union representatives met with MV Transportation this week. Workers’ demands include better wages, improved working conditions, and the hiring of more operators.

Talks follow 2024 strike

The negotiations come more than a year after JTRAN employees went on strike for several days in 2024. The union said it is hopeful the current talks will result in a contract that prevents another work stoppage.

The union president said some employees are having to work 12 hours a day because they are so short staffed…
