Birmingham, Alabama — Mallory and Lewis broke school records Saturday at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship. Mallory, a freshman from St. Petersburg, Florida, won the women’s weight throw with a distance of 17.65 meters, setting a new school record.
Korbin Lewis also made history for Jackson State, vaulting 4.42 meters in the men’s pole vault to set a school record. He earned a bronze medal in the event. Jackson State’s Kaiden Berry secured gold in the men’s shot put, throwing 16.39 meters.
In addition, Godfrey Kimutai and Eric Lagat finished second and third, respectively, in the men’s 3,000 meters. Kimutai clocked 8:35.64, and Lagat finished in 8:45.52, both personal bests for the athletes…
