Texas Southern Battles Back but Comes Up Short vs. Jackson State

HOUSTON — Texas Southern showed fight late but couldn’t overcome a slow second quarter in a 65–52 loss to Jackson State on Saturday afternoon at the Health & Physical Education Arena.

The Lady Tigers were paced by Jaileyah Cotton, who delivered 19 points, going 9-for‑13 from the free‑throw line and hitting both of her three‑point attempts. Derrica McCall added 15 points, while Pierre‑Noelle Tcheuhchoua provided a strong lift off the bench with 11 points and four rebounds.

Texas Southern trailed by just four after the first quarter but was outscored 25–13 in the second frame, allowing Jackson State to build a lead that grew to 22 points in the third.
