Jaxson Hemby, Pediatric Patient and Ole Miss Fan, Named Childrens of Mississippi Kid Coach

Jaxson Hemby of Brandon has been named this week’s Childrens of Mississippi Kid Coach in a partnership between the hospital and the Ole Miss Rebels. The initiative celebrates pediatric patients and their inspiring stories.

Hemby was born with a rare blood condition that required surgery at age two to remove his spleen. Following the procedure, he faced life-threatening complications, including sepsis, which led to two cardiac arrests and a two-week stay in the pediatric intensive care unit.

His mother credited the hospital’s medical team for their tireless efforts in his recovery. “Their expertise, compassion and dedication made all the difference,” she said. Now 12, Hemby is healthy, enjoys playing soccer and football, and is a dedicated Ole Miss fan…
